Prader-Willi Syndrome Market to Grow with New Therapies
The Prader-Willi syndrome market is projected for significant growth by 2036, driven by emerging therapeutic opportunities and increased disease awareness.

The market for Prader-Willi syndrome (PWS) is expected to experience steady growth through 2036, fueled by rising disease awareness, improved diagnostics, and the development of novel targeted therapies.
In 2025, the PWS market across seven key regions (United States, EU4, United Kingdom, and Japan) was valued at over USD 700 million, with the United States representing the largest share. Approximately 26,000 diagnosed cases of PWS were recorded in 2025.
Several companies, including Harmony Biosciences, Aardvark Therapeutics, and Rhythm Pharmaceuticals, are developing new treatments for PWS, such as WAKIX, ARD-101, and Setmelanotide. Growth is further supported by growth hormone therapies and advancements in genetic diagnostics.
The US accounted for approximately 12,200 diagnosed PWS cases in 2025. Lifestyle and environmental factors may contribute to increasing prevalence. While growth hormone therapy is the only FDA-approved treatment for children with PWS, it does not address all symptoms like hyperphagia.
In March 2025, the FDA approved VYKAT XR for the treatment of hyperphagia in adults and children aged 4 and older with PWS. The introduction of new therapies is anticipated to increase market competition.
