Pratt & Whitney Canada and AirBorneo Airways agree on engine maintenance
Pratt & Whitney Canada has signed a four-year agreement with AirBorneo Airways for maintenance services on PW127M engines. The contract extends through 2030 and supports the airline's ATR 72-500 fleet in East Malaysia.
Pratt & Whitney Canada and Malaysian regional airline AirBorneo Airways have finalized a four-year agreement for comprehensive maintenance, repair, and overhaul (MRO) services. The contract covers the PW127M engines powering AirBorneo's fleet of ATR 72-500 aircraft through 2030.
AirBorneo Airways operates its ATR 72-500 aircraft on a rural air services network in East Malaysia, connecting remote and underserved communities. Maintenance operations will be primarily conducted at Pratt & Whitney Canada's expanded facility in Singapore, a key hub for customer support in the Asia-Pacific region.
Pratt & Whitney Canada stated the agreement aims to manage engine costs and ensure high dispatch availability for the airline's critical flights. The company noted that recent investments at the Singapore facility have enhanced its turboprop engine MRO capabilities in the region.
AirBorneo CEO Megat Ardian Aminuddin indicated that the Singapore-based support will lead to faster repairs and improved operational certainty for its remote routes. The PW127M engines are part of Pratt & Whitney Canada's PW100 family, which has over 40 years of experience in regional turboprop operations.
