Pratt & Whitney GTF Engines Achieve Over 800 Orders in 2026 Year-to-Date
Pratt & Whitney, a unit of RTX, reported over 800 GTF engine orders and commitments in 2026, expanding its total backlog to more than 8,000 engines.
Farnborough International Airshow – Pratt & Whitney, an RTX business, announced it has received more than 800 orders and commitments for its GTF engines since the start of 2026. Airlines and lessors confirming orders this year include Abra Group, AirAsia, Azorra, Binter, British Airways, Finnair, Jackson Square Aviation, Luxair, Scoot, Tigerair Taiwan, and VietJet.
The accumulation of these orders brings Pratt & Whitney's global GTF engine backlog to over 8,000 units. In total, more than 90 customers worldwide have placed over 14,000 GTF engine orders and commitments.
Rick Deurloo, president of Commercial Engines at Pratt & Whitney, cited strong demand for the GTF engine and continued customer confidence in its value. He also highlighted the upcoming GTF Advantage engine, expected to enter service later this year, promising up to double the time on wing, industry-leading fuel efficiency, and enhanced range capabilities.
The GTF engine is noted for its fuel efficiency, delivering up to 20% lower fuel consumption and a 75% smaller noise footprint compared to previous engine generations. Its geared architecture serves as a foundation for next-generation propulsion technologies and is projected to accumulate over 300 million flight hours by the mid-2030s.
