Premier Inn has announced an agreement to acquire eight leased hotels from Gorgeous Smiling Hotels (GSH) in Germany and Austria. This move is part of Premier Inn Germany's strategic growth plans to become the number one player in the budget segment.

The acquisition will add 1,538 rooms to Whitbread's portfolio, located in key cities across Germany and Austria, including Hamburg, Berlin, Munich, and Vienna. The deal also introduces Premier Inn to new locations such as Koblenz and Rostock. The company aims to close existing gaps in its network plan and bolster its market position.

Seven of the existing hotels are expected to remain operational, with a brief temporary closure for rebranding and modernization as Premier Inn. This integration process is anticipated to be completed within the coming months. The purchase price for the transaction has not been disclosed.

Upon completion of this acquisition, Premier Inn will operate over 70 hotels with approximately 14,000 rooms in Germany. The chain aims to operate around 20,000 rooms in Germany and Austria by 2030.
