Premier Inn hotels light up windows to honor NHS
Hotel chain Premier Inn has arranged lights in its hotel windows to spell out 'NHS' and other tributes for healthcare workers and other key personnel across the UK.
Premier Inn, a major UK hotel chain, has initiated a campaign where lights in its hotel windows are arranged to form tributes to the nation's National Health Service (NHS) staff and other key workers. The initiative began at the Premier Inn Cardiff Bay hotel, where the hotel's windows were lit to spell out 'NHS'.
The campaign was spearheaded by hotel manager Adrian Andrews, who has a personal connection to healthcare. His aunt, Kaye Walters, qualified as a nurse just three months prior to the COVID-19 outbreak and works at Bradford Royal Infirmary. Andrews found the display particularly poignant as it took place on the day his aunt was originally scheduled to graduate.
The Cardiff City Centre hotel is one of 37 Premier Inn locations remaining open to accommodate key workers, offering over 5,000 rooms. The lighting tribute has since been adopted by other Premier Inn hotels nationwide. Beyond spelling 'NHS', hotels have also displayed lit heart shapes and rainbow signs in their windows to show solidarity.
Andrews stated the company's aim was to show pride and appreciation for NHS and key workers in a unique way. He noted that based on local feedback, the display has been recognized and positively received as a gesture of support.
