Hotel chain Premier Inn has released a study identifying the most disliked business jargon in the UK. The phrase "touch base" was ranked as the most hated, with "no-brainer" and "outside the box" following closely behind.

The survey revealed that many Britons find these phrases confusing and overused. Despite expressing a dislike for the buzzwords, participants also acknowledged their frequent use in workplace communication.

"Touch base," originating from baseball, is used in business to mean "make contact" or "check in." The term "no-brainer," coined in the 1950s, refers to something requiring little mental effort or an easy decision. "Outside the box," originating in the 1960s, describes creative or unconventional thinking.

Premier Inn also explored international business jargon, including China's "nine cows, one hair" (indicating minimal impact) and Germany's "now it's about the sausage" (signifying a project's final stages), highlighting diverse linguistic expressions in global business.
