Premier Inn to Close Branded Restaurants, Add Hotel Rooms
Premier Inn will close all Whitbread-owned restaurants, including Beefeater and Brewers Fayre, by September 2026. The transition will see approximately 600 new hotel rooms added across its UK estate.

Premier Inn, a major UK hotel chain, has announced plans to close all its Whitbread-branded restaurants, including popular chains like Beefeater and Brewers Fayre, by September 2026. This move is part of the company's five-year strategy focused on strengthening its core hotel offering.
The closures will also affect Bar + Block, Table Table, Whitbread Inns, and Cookhouse + Pub establishments. The company stated that the transition aims to create a more consistent dining experience for guests. In conjunction with these changes, Premier Inn plans to add around 600 new hotel rooms to its estate, increasing overall accommodation capacity.
While the branded restaurants will cease operations, Premier Inn assured customers that food and drink services will remain available at all its hotels. Many locations will see former restaurant spaces converted into Premier Inn restaurants offering a selection of meals. Some hotels without full restaurant facilities will provide breakfast rooms, while others will have adjacent restaurants operated by third parties.
The company highlighted that over half of its Premier Inn locations already feature on-site restaurants. The shift aims to standardize these offerings under the Premier Inn brand, providing value-for-money meals and the chain's signature unlimited breakfast. This strategic realignment is intended to solidify Premier Inn's position as a leading value hotel provider in the UK.
