Hotel chain Premier Inn is set to open a new 200-room hotel in Kiel, Germany, located in a developing residential and commercial quarter along the Kiel Fjord. The company has signed a 25-year lease agreement for the property.

The development, situated on a approximately 12,000 sqm site at the Germaniahafen formerly used by a shipyard, is being managed by BAUM Unternehmensgruppe and meravis Immobiliengruppe. The project will also include apartments, offices, and retail spaces.

An architectural competition is planned for the first half of 2021 to determine the urban planning and design aspects of the new buildings. Harald Siemens of BAUM Unternehmensgruppe stated that Premier Inn is the first partner secured for the development.

Premier Inn views Kiel as a strategic addition to its portfolio. Chris-Norman Sauer, Acquisitions Director Germany for Premier Inn, highlighted the city's location and accessibility for tourists and business travelers.
