Premier Inn Traces Its History From Travel Inn to Global Brand
Premier Inn, the UK's largest hotel chain, began as Travel Inn in 1987. The company has since expanded significantly, operating over 800 hotels in the UK and internationally.
Premier Inn, the United Kingdom's largest hotel chain with over 800 locations, traces its origins back to 1987 when its parent company, Whitbread, launched the first Travel Inn hotel in Basildon.
The brand operated under the Travel Inn name for several years. Following the acquisition of the Premier Lodge hotel brand in 2004, Whitbread merged the two, creating Premier Travel Inn. The name was simplified to Premier Inn in 2007.
International expansion began in 2006 with hotels opening in the United Arab Emirates, followed by expansion into Ireland. In 2016, Premier Inn launched its first hotel in Germany, Frankfurt Messe, and has since opened 60 properties across the country.
The company states it is continuously evolving its guest experience, highlighting innovations such as the "Next Evolution Style" room type and ongoing efforts to open new hotels and enhance services nationwide.
