Premium Economy: Offered amenities and price comparison

Travel search engine KAYAK has released a comprehensive guide to the 'Premium Economy' airline class, positioned between Economy and Business Class. This intermediate class offers enhanced amenities at an average price of €1,380 for international routes.

Premium Economy was first introduced in 1991 by the Taiwanese airline EVA Air. Today, numerous airlines, including Lufthansa, Condor, Finnair, Air France, SAS, British Airways, United, American Airlines, and Air Canada, offer this option. Specific features can vary depending on the airline and aircraft type.

Key improvements typically include wider and more comfortable seats with greater recline and a footrest. Seat configurations are often more spacious, sometimes in a 2-2-2 arrangement. Dining and beverage services are upgraded, featuring a broader selection and complimentary alcoholic drinks. Passengers often receive better amenity kits, plusher pillows, and superior headphones compared to the standard Economy class.

Furthermore, Premium Economy generally includes a more generous baggage allowance, often two checked bags, and priority services for check-in and boarding. While it does not include lounge access or the full suite of Business Class services, it provides a notable upgrade over Economy for a supplementary cost, depending on the airline and route.
