Prifemilast Demonstrates Superior Efficacy vs. Apremilast in Psoriasis Trial
cAMPfield Therapeutics announced positive Phase 3 results showing its drug prifemilast was more effective than apremilast in treating moderate-to-severe psoriasis. The company plans further trials for inflammatory bowel diseases.

Biopharmaceutical company cAMPfield Therapeutics has reported findings from a Phase 3 trial indicating superior efficacy of its drug prifemilast compared to apremilast in treating moderate-to-severe plaque psoriasis. The study, conducted in partnership with Newsoara Biopharma, met its primary endpoints.
The head-to-head trial showed that prifemilast achieved a nearly doubled PASI 75 response rate compared to apremilast at 16 weeks (64.6% vs. 35.3%). Both treatments demonstrated low rates of serious adverse events and similar discontinuation rates due to adverse events.
In a separate, placebo-controlled Phase 3 trial, prifemilast also demonstrated superior efficacy to placebo, with responses maintained for up to 52 weeks. The extensive clinical safety data, gathered from over 1,000 participants, supports the drug's profile for treating immune-mediated inflammatory diseases.
Building on these results, cAMPfield is advancing prifemilast into global Phase 2 trials for ulcerative colitis and Crohn's disease, targeting the shared inflammatory pathways common to these conditions.
