Prime Video Debuts First Teaser for Blade Runner 2099 Series

Prime Video unveiled the first teaser for its upcoming ten-episode television series, Blade Runner 2099, on Friday at San Diego Comic-Con. The series expands upon the science fiction universe initiated by Ridley Scott's 1982 film Blade Runner and its 2017 sequel, Blade Runner 2049.

The debut featured appearances by actors Michelle Yeoh and Hunter Schafer, alongside showrunner Silka Luisa. An exclusive clip from the series was also shown to attendees.

Luisa described the series as adhering to the original's "noir principles" and centering on a mystery that explores both past and future mythology. The narrative posits a future where humans have lost an uprising and are now a hunted, second-class citizenry.

"The show is really imagining what comes after us, and what does it mean to be human in a world where humanity is no longer relevant," Luisa stated. Blade Runner 2099 is expected to delve into the franchise's ongoing themes of humanity and artificial existence.
