Proalpha Explores Production Level 4 for Autonomous Factories
The SmartFactory KL technology initiative, of which proALPHA is a member, is developing a "Production Level 4" demonstrator to advance automation in medium-sized manufacturing companies.

ProALPHA Group is participating in the "Production Level 4" project led by the SmartFactory KL technology initiative. The project aims to develop autonomous production processes, focusing on 'Level 4' autonomy where humans remain central decision-makers, supported by automated systems.
The initiative is advancing the Industrial Internet of Things (IIoT) in manufacturing. While full autonomy (Level 5) is not the goal, Level 4 seeks to maximize agility for producing lot size 1. Systems are designed to be robust, react flexibly to external influences, and enable automated production planning and easy reconfiguration.
The "Production Level 4" demonstrator yields practical insights benefiting proALPHA's ERP solution development and its consultants. This knowledge assists medium-sized manufacturers in addressing digitalization and automation challenges, particularly concerning labor shortages and attracting talent.
The ERP system serves as the central hub for production and data exchange. It manages orders, automates data transfer to machinery, and receives real-time production status updates, providing management and staff with a clear view of the manufacturing process.
