Prometheus Materials Appoints Cement and Concrete Leaders for Commercial Scale-Up

Prometheus Materials, a company developing low-carbon and carbon-negative cement technology, has significantly strengthened its leadership team to support its next phase of commercial scale-up. Filiberto Ruiz and Alan Wessel have been appointed to the company's Board of Directors, and Brian Chapman, PhD, has joined as Director of Technology.

Ruiz brings nearly four decades of experience in leadership roles within the cement and construction materials industry, having previously served as CEO for Votorantim Cimentos North America and Holcim US. Wessel has over 35 years of experience in construction materials, including leadership at Thomas Concrete and Vulcan Materials, focusing on commercialization and manufacturing scale.

Chapman joins with expertise in materials science and novel cement technologies, particularly in the area of biocement, having previously worked at Biomason. These appointments bring together deep experience across cement manufacturing, concrete commercialization, and advanced materials science as Prometheus Materials advances its ProZERO product.

The company's technology is currently being deployed in projects for six major datacenter operators. Prometheus Materials aims to scale its ProZERO blend, designed to replace traditional supplemental cementitious materials (SCMs) and reduce carbon emissions in concrete production.
