Pulmonary Hypertension Association Highlights Pressures of Living with PH
The Pulmonary Hypertension Association launches its 'Living Under Pressure' campaign in November to raise awareness about the daily and medical challenges faced by individuals with pulmonary hypertension.

The Pulmonary Hypertension Association (PHA) is recognizing Pulmonary Hypertension Awareness Month this November with its "Living Under Pressure" campaign. The initiative aims to draw attention to the medical realities of PH and the everyday challenges that accompany living with the serious condition.
Pulmonary hypertension is characterized by high blood pressure in the lungs, which strains the heart and can lead to right heart failure or death. It affects people of all ages and backgrounds and is a factor in over 18,000 adult deaths annually in the U.S. Diagnosis is often delayed due to the varied causes of PH and its overlapping symptoms with other diseases.
The "Living Under Pressure" campaign expands the discussion beyond the purely medical aspects of PH. Throughout November, PHA will share stories and resources focusing on managing symptoms and treatment, navigating healthcare and insurance systems, and balancing work and family responsibilities. The campaign also aims to highlight how individuals with PH adapt, find support, advocate for themselves, and continue pursuing meaningful activities and goals.
"Too many people with PH still face a long road to diagnosis, challenges accessing the treatments and specialty care they need, and the daily burden of managing a complex condition," stated Mitchell Koppelman, chair of PHA's Board of Trustees. "Awareness can help change that. By helping more people, including healthcare professionals, recognize PH and understand its impact, we can reduce delays in diagnosis, strengthen support, and help ensure people with PH receive the care they need."
PHA's outreach includes social media engagement, advocacy efforts, educational programs, and fundraising events. The organization also offers a digital toolkit to assist individuals and groups in raising awareness. Several events, including webinars and fundraising walks, are scheduled throughout the month across the United States.
