Puntacana Championship to Feature Record 144 Players in PGA Tour Integration

Puntacana Resort has officially launched the ninth edition of the Corales Puntacana Championship PGA TOUR Event 2026. The tournament, held at the Corales Golf Course in Punta Cana, Dominican Republic, will feature a record 144 professional golfers from approximately 20 countries. This expansion into the PGA Tour, DP World Tour, and FedExCup schedules marks a significant step for the event and the region's sports tourism.

A key change for the 2026 event is its move to July, aligning with an update to the official PGA TOUR schedule. This adjustment allows for the inclusion of players from the DP World Tour, enhancing the competition's international scope. The championship boasts a US$4 million purse, the highest prize fund for a sports event in the Dominican Republic's history.

The event will host past champions including Brice Garnett (2018), Joel Dahmen (2021), Chad Ramey (2022), and defending champion Garrick Higgo (2025), alongside notable PGA Tour players. The Dominican Republic will be represented by professionals Domenico Geminiani, Anthony García, and Willy Pumarol. Beyond the golf competition, attendees can expect a comprehensive entertainment experience with diverse culinary offerings, shopping, and live performances.

Puntacana Resort also highlighted that a portion of the championship's proceeds will support local initiatives through the Grupo Puntacana Foundation. These funds will be directed towards environmental conservation, coral restoration, healthcare, education, and social inclusion programs. The tournament will be open to the public from July 16-19.
