Purple launches Nitro platform for local publishers
Software provider Purple has launched Nitro, a platform designed for independent local and regional publishers. The platform aims to provide a shared technology stack enabling publishers to collaborate on digital infrastructure and solutions.

Berlin-based software company Purple has launched Nitro, a new platform specifically developed to support independent local and regional publishers. The initiative aims to create a common technology stack that allows publishers to share digital infrastructure, solutions, and expertise without compromising their autonomy.
Nitro offers a comprehensive suite of tools, including a cross-device content management system (CMS), integrated generative AI within the editor, AI-powered workflows across the editorial value chain, and a unified frontend platform for web, apps, and e-papers. The platform also facilitates automated newspaper page production from digital content through a partnership with Aptoma and includes over 40 integrations.
Purple is investing in the expansion of Nitro, supported by a grant of 1.6 million euros. This funding will be allocated over three years towards platform development, new features, and team growth in product, engineering, and consulting. New modules are planned for regular release and availability to all participating publishers.
Several local and regional publishers, such as Heidenheimer Zeitung, reiff medien, and Somedia, are already utilizing Purple's services. The company serves over 600 brands across ten countries.
