Qantas to Launch Non-Stop Sydney-London Flights from 2027
Qantas has confirmed the launch of its first non-stop flights between Sydney and London in October 2027. This new service will establish the longest commercial flight route globally, with journeys taking up to 22 hours.

Qantas has officially announced that its non-stop flights connecting Sydney directly to London will commence in October 2027. This new route, part of the airline's 'Project Sunrise', is set to become the longest commercial flight in the world, with an estimated travel time of up to 22 hours.
The service will utilize Qantas' specially configured Airbus A350-1000ULR aircraft, designed for ultra-long-range operations. The announcement was made alongside the public unveiling of the first A350-1000ULR in Qantas livery at the Airbus manufacturing plant in Toulouse.
Qantas Group CEO Vanessa Hudson stated that this route represents the carrier's most significant milestone in its 105-year history, fulfilling a long-held ambition to directly link Australia's east coast to London. This eliminates the need for stopovers on the iconic Kangaroo Route.
Both Australian and UK government officials have hailed the new service as a major development for tourism and bilateral ties. They anticipate the direct flights will boost visitor numbers and strengthen connections between the two nations.
Bookings for the new Sydney-London route are scheduled to open in February 2027.
