Qatar Airways to join oneworld alliance on October 30
Qatar Airways will officially join the oneworld airline alliance on October 30, 2013. The alliance anticipates the addition will strengthen its position in the Middle East.

Qatar Airways is set to become a full member of the oneworld airline alliance on Wednesday, October 30, 2013. The airline, recognized by Skytrax as one of the world's fastest-growing and highly rated carriers, adds significant capacity to the alliance.
The accession follows a year-long implementation program, reportedly one of the quickest in oneworld's history. British Airways sponsored Qatar Airways' entry into the alliance.
Qatar Airways' integration is expected to enhance oneworld's global network by introducing over 20 new destinations and five new countries. This expansion is anticipated to provide improved routing options, particularly between Asia and Southern Europe or Africa.
Members of Qatar Airways' Privilege Club loyalty program will gain frequent flyer benefits across all oneworld carriers, and conversely, members of other oneworld airlines' programs will be able to earn and redeem points on Qatar Airways. Airport lounge access will also be extended.
With Qatar Airways' addition, oneworld will serve nearly 1,000 airports in more than 150 countries, solidifying its standing as the leading alliance in the Middle East.
