Qt 6.12 LTS Development Framework Officially Supports HarmonyOS
The cross-platform development framework Qt 6.12 LTS has been released, adding official support for Huawei's HarmonyOS for the first time. The update also enhances cybersecurity compliance and UI rendering performance.
The cross-platform development framework Qt has released its latest Long-Term Support (LTS) version, Qt 6.12. A significant addition in this release is the official inclusion of HarmonyOS as a supported platform. This expansion provides HarmonyOS developers with the same stability and support that Qt offers to other platforms.
The Qt 6.12 LTS version offers a five-year maintenance support cycle, crucial for commercial and industrial projects requiring long-term stability. The update also focuses on significant improvements in cybersecurity, particularly to meet the European Union's Cyber Resilience Act (CRA). For commercial licensees, this includes compliance with requirements such as Software Bill of Materials (SBOM) and dedicated security vulnerability response.
Additionally, Qt 6.12 introduces enhancements to UI rendering and graphical performance, with the official release of Qt Canvas Painter and the addition of new components like QML Canvas2D and the StyleKit module. Development efficiency has been boosted by the QML engine's hot-reload feature, allowing for real-time updates of changes without restarting the application. The QtGrpc module has also been optimized for improved network efficiency and stability.
Beyond the new HarmonyOS support, Qt 6.12 includes optimizations for the WebAssembly environment, reducing resource usage and enhancing performance within browsers. Qt 6.12 LTS is now available, consolidating stable features from previous versions with these new advancements.
