Qualcomm and Transsion Extend Patent License Agreement to 2031

Qualcomm and Transsion Holdings have signed a long-term extension of their global patent license agreement, covering 4G and 5G mobile devices until the end of 2031.

16 October 2026

Qualcomm announced it has signed a long-term extension of its global patent license agreement with Transsion Holdings. The agreement covers 4G and 5G mobile devices and will remain in effect through the end of 2031.

"We are very pleased to have executed a renewal of Transsion’s 4G and 5G license in advance and to have brought our existing 4G and 5G agreements together into a single, long-term agreement," said John Han, EVP and GM of Qualcomm Technology Licensing.

Transsion Holdings, a major player in mobile device markets including Africa and South Asia, secures continued access to Qualcomm's wireless technology patents under the new terms. This deal is part of Qualcomm's strategy to maintain revenue streams from patent licensing.

The agreement follows recent patent license deals Qualcomm has reached with other major mobile device manufacturers, including Apple and Huawei, signaling ongoing efforts to secure intellectual property agreements across the industry.
