RBC Capital Markets Named General Clearing Member by European Commodity Clearing
RBC Capital Markets has been granted General Clearing Member (GCM) status by European Commodity Clearing (ECC). This expands its capacity to clear transactions in European energy and commodity markets.

London, September 30, 2026 – RBC Capital Markets has achieved a significant milestone in the European energy sector, receiving General Clearing Member (GCM) status from European Commodity Clearing AG (ECC). This designation empowers the bank to clear and settle transactions on behalf of its clients, known as Non-Clearing Members (NCMs), across European energy and commodity markets.
The expansion of operations within Europe's energy and commodities sector has been a long-term objective for RBC Capital Markets. Obtaining GCM status with ECC represents a strategically important advancement, enhancing market access and providing more robust clearing solutions for the bank's clients, which include major energy producers, utilities, and financial institutions.
As a General Clearing Member, RBC Capital Markets can now offer a comprehensive suite of clearing services for power and gas futures and spot contracts, European Energy Exchange (EEX) carbon dioxide auctions, and a broader range of products on the EEX platform. This expanded offering will assist clients in navigating Europe's evolving energy and carbon markets.
"Being appointed a General Clearing Member at ECC is a significant step for our clearing and futures business," stated Eric Aldous, Global Head of Clearing Services and Futures at RBC Capital Markets. "It allows us to expand our reach, offer more services to our clients, and provide deeper, more stable access to European energy and commodity markets." The bank aims to develop clearing solutions that meet clients' future market demands.
