Redcliffe Labs, Skyroot Partner To Test Diagnostic Reagents In Space
Indian diagnostics startup Redcliffe Labs has partnered with spacetech startup Skyroot Aerospace to test the stability and performance of diagnostic reagents in space.

Indian diagnostics firm Redcliffe Labs is collaborating with spacetech company Skyroot Aerospace to assess the stability and performance of diagnostic reagents in the space environment. The initial experiment, designated DRIFT-1, will involve placing Redcliffe's dry diagnostic reagents into Low Earth Orbit for a 90-day period.
The primary objective is to compare the reagents' performance after exposure to space conditions with an identical control sample kept on Earth. This initiative is expected to generate data crucial for developing diagnostic technologies suitable for space missions and challenging terrestrial environments.
Redcliffe Labs anticipates that the findings could facilitate the creation of diagnostic products for locations with limited access to conventional laboratory infrastructure or cold-chain facilities. The companies are also exploring applications in astronaut healthcare, life sciences, and microgravity research.
Skyroot Aerospace, which recently conducted India's first private orbital rocket launch, is providing its launch and technological expertise for this collaboration. Redcliffe Labs has been actively expanding its diagnostics network through acquisitions, recently divesting its fertility services to focus on diagnostics.
