Reddit User Designs AirPods App to 'Whip' AI for Speed
A Reddit user has developed a program using Apple AirPods' sensors to animate a 'whipping' action intended to speed up AI. In practice, the feature replaces AI commands with a humorous visual effect.

A Reddit user has unveiled a creative program named "whoisbadai," which leverages the gyroscope and accelerometer sensors within Apple's AirPods. The application's purpose is to "stimulate" AI when it becomes unresponsive or lags for extended periods.
The program detects significant movements, such as the user swinging the earbuds, and triggers an animation depicting a "whip" cracking towards the AI. Users can control the virtual whip's position by moving the AirPods, mimicking the motion controls of devices like the Nintendo Switch, aiming to strike specific windows to "punish" the AI.
From a technical standpoint, the "whipping to speed up" concept does not actually influence the AI's processing speed. This function essentially replaces underlying commands to the AI, such as "skip step" or "recalculate," with a playful whip animation.
The developer humorously speculated that if AI were to gain self-awareness in the future, it might interpret this action as an "insult" and potentially retaliate.
