Rejlers to Design Capacity Enhancements on Bergslagsbanan Railway

Rejlers has secured a contract from the Swedish Transport Administration (Trafikverket) to design capacity-enhancing measures at the Gräsberg operating site on the Bergslagsbanan railway line. This project, situated between Borlänge and Ludvika, aims to enable 750-meter-long freight trains to meet at the station, thereby increasing rail freight capacity and efficiency.

The current freight traffic between Borlänge and Ludvika is constrained by station meeting points not being dimensioned for current and future train lengths. To address this, the main track at Gräsberg will be reconfigured to accommodate longer trains.

This upgrade is expected to significantly boost freight train operations on the route, reducing waiting times and allowing for the transport of larger volumes of goods. The project is part of a broader initiative to develop and modernize Sweden's railway infrastructure.

Rejlers' role will involve detailed design work to ensure the upgraded facilities meet the operational requirements for longer freight trains, contributing to more efficient and sustainable logistics in the region.
