René Sébenne, Key Figure at Dassault Aviation, Has Died
René Sébenne, who managed the Dassault-Breguet merger and contributed to aircraft development, has passed away.

René Sébenne, a long-serving executive at aircraft manufacturer Dassault Aviation, died on April 10, 2020. He played a significant role in the company's history, particularly in managing the Dassault-Breguet merger alongside Xavier d’Iribarne.
Sébenne began his career with Dassault in 1949 at the Mérignac design office. He worked on two-seater night fighters, including the Mystère IV N, and coordinated prototype development up to flight testing. He was also involved in launching the series production of the SMB2 and developing the Mirage III.
In 1970, Sébenne was tasked with managing the Dassault-Breguet merger. In this capacity, he oversaw operations at both the Vélizy and Saint-Cloud sites, redefining their respective functions. He also led international industrial cooperation and the licensed final assembly of the Alpha Jet in Egypt.
Sébenne retired in 1990. His career spanned crucial development and production stages within the French aviation industry.
