Investment firm Renew Capital has selected 15 African technology startups to participate in its inaugural Renew Venture Lab: EmFi Series. The selection was made from a pool of over 500 applicants representing 48 African countries.

The chosen startups will proceed to deeper technical training and investment consideration. The companies hail from Ethiopia, Ghana, Kenya, Morocco, Nigeria, Senegal, South Africa, Togo, Uganda, and Zambia.

"The next generation of Africa’s small business banks won’t be banks. They’ll be startups that already understand how SMEs operate, have their data and have earned their trust. These 15 companies are building from that advantage," said Matthew Davis, co-CEO of Renew Capital.

Renew Capital is a pan-African investment firm with operations in 13 countries, focused on backing founders leveraging technology to address opportunities across the continent and has been an active investor in Africa's tech sector.
