The decision was attributed to multiple factors, including cost-effectiveness and performance. Replit had previously partnered with Anthropic, but announced a collaboration with OpenAI in August.
Masad indicated that Replit's internal benchmarks and publicly available metrics show OpenAI's models performing better for building certain types of applications. He stated that ChatGPT is now considered a superior option for the platform's requirements.
