Reply announced the ten finalists for its international AI Film Festival, a competition exploring the intersection of cinema and artificial intelligence. The festival, which successfully held its first edition in 2024, is open to creatives using AI tools in filmmaking.
Over 2,500 submissions from 67 countries were entered into the competition. The selected works will be honored at a ceremony on September 4, coinciding with the 82nd Venice International Film Festival. The event aims to celebrate the synergy between technology and cinema, showcasing emerging talent and innovative storytelling.
An international jury, chaired by filmmaker Gabriele Muccino, will select the winners. Muccino stated that AI acts as a catalyst for innovation rather than a replacement for human creativity. "The AI revolution is just beginning, and I'm thrilled to be at the forefront of this creative explosion," he commented.
The finalist films explored the theme "Generation of Emotions," demonstrating how AI can create authentic and emotionally resonant experiences through cinematic language. Artists, filmmakers, and enthusiasts globally participated in the contest.
The competition is promoted by Reply, a group specializing in AI and digital media-enabled business models. Mastercard is a long-standing sponsor of the festival.
