Reply and IEO to Co-Develop AI Models for Oncology
IT consultancy Reply and the European Institute of Oncology (IEO) are collaborating to co-develop and train domain-specific Large Language Models for oncology. The initiative aims to enhance cancer diagnostics and treatment.

IT consultancy Reply and the European Institute of Oncology (IEO) have launched a collaboration focused on co-developing and training domain-specific Large Language Models (LLMs) for oncology. The initiative combines Reply's expertise in building generative models with IEO's clinical acumen and data assets to create models tailored for complex oncology settings.
The initial phase involves IEO's clinical teams and IT department working with a multidisciplinary Reply team to define and prioritize use cases that will guide model development. Simultaneously, available data assets are being mapped to identify suitable datasets for training.
The project will initially focus on breast oncology, urologic oncology, and prevention, selected for their clinical relevance and technical feasibility. Clinical reports, diagnostic images, and other relevant data from these areas are being analyzed to define datasets aligned with the chosen use cases.
Following dataset preparation, the program will move into a phase of training LLMs on the selected use cases. The aim is to develop and deploy solutions in clinical settings to support prevention, diagnosis, and treatment.
