Report: Huawei Plans New Small Foldable Phone for 2025
Rumors suggest Huawei may launch a new generation of small foldable phones in 2025. The device is expected to fill a gap in the company's product lineup.
Malaysian tech site IT之家 reported on July 6, 2024, that rumors indicate Huawei is planning a new small foldable phone for release in 2025. According to posts from Weibo user @数码闲聊站, the new model is part of the company's broader foldable phone strategy.
The anticipated device is expected to be a successor to the Huawei Pura X. The previous iteration, Huawei Pura X, was released in March 2023 and featured a 3.5-inch external display and a 6.3-inch wide internal screen with a 16:10 aspect ratio. This design offered a 30% improved viewing experience for videos and documents compared to the traditional 16:9 format.
Huawei's plans are said to focus on foldable devices of various sizes and formats. The company aims to differentiate itself from competitors by offering a more diverse range of foldable options. This strategy is expected to encompass both larger and smaller foldable form factors.
Other Chinese tech firms, including Vivo, Honor, Oppo, and Xiaomi, are also expected to release new products in the competitive large-screen and foldable phone market. Huawei is also reportedly looking to enhance its lineup of traditional, non-folding phones.
