Market research firm DelveInsight has released a report indicating that over 50 pharmaceutical companies are actively developing a broad array of Janus kinase (JAK) inhibitors. The report covers more than 55 pipeline drugs spanning various clinical and non-clinical stages of development.

Recent developments highlight significant progress from multiple firms. Geron Corporation initiated a Phase 3 study in July 2026 to evaluate the efficacy of imetelstat in myelofibrosis patients who have relapsed or are refractory to JAK inhibitor treatments. Sun Pharma Japan is investigating the efficacy and safety of deuruxolitinib in adult Japanese patients with alopecia, while Sanofi is assessing amlitelimab in patients with moderate-to-severe atopic dermatitis.

Novartis Pharmaceuticals has also reported on a clinical trial comparing pelabresib in combination with ruxolitinib against ruxolitinib alone in patients with primary myelofibrosis who have no prior JAK inhibitor therapy. This trial aims to improve clinical outcomes in this patient group.

JAK inhibitors are small molecules that target cytokine signaling pathways and are used to treat a range of autoimmune diseases. Their broad utility in autoimmune and inflammatory conditions is driving the development of new and more effective therapies. The report also details promising JAK inhibitor candidates such as povorcitinib and CPL409116, which are currently undergoing clinical trials for various indications.
