Research: Men Ignore Body Cues While Watching Sports
New research from TENA indicates that a significant percentage of men delay bathroom breaks during sports viewing, potentially leading to health issues.

A new study by TENA reveals that 73% of men admit to delaying bathroom visits while watching sports to avoid missing key moments. This habit, often amplified during busy sports seasons, can contribute to bladder issues and physical discomfort over time.
Experts explain that the excitement of sports can trigger a stress response in the body, leading to increased heart rate and muscle tension. TENA's survey found that 31% of viewers experienced racing heartbeats, 27% held their breath, and 24% noticed muscle tension.
Physiotherapist Alex Lee and clinical counselor Matthew Grammer warn that repeatedly overriding basic needs like using the bathroom or resting can disconnect men from their body's warning signs, potentially contributing to chronic stress and burnout.
Warning signs include irritability, reduced focus, mental or physical fatigue, and changes in posture. Experts advise small adjustments like regular movement breaks, stretching, and deep breathing during tense moments.
