Responsible Fintech Institute Appoints Four Executive Fellows, Promotes Patrick H. M. Loh to Co-Founder

Singapore – The Responsible Fintech Institute (RFI) has announced the appointment of Professor Lawrence Loh, Associate Professor Eugene K. B. Tan, Professor Louis Chen, and Ms Farah Jaafar as Executive Fellows. Additionally, Distinguished Professor Patrick H. M. Loh, who joined as an Executive Fellow earlier in 2026, has been elevated to Co-Founder in recognition of his significant contributions to the institute's strategic direction.

The appointments come as digital finance gains mainstream traction, with regulators, institutions, and technology providers seeking to establish sound legal, ethical, and governance foundations for innovations in digital assets, AI, and cross-border payments. In their roles as Executive Fellows, they will engage with regulators and standard-setting bodies, contribute to principles-based industry frameworks, and strengthen RFI's regional partnerships.

Chia Hock Lai, Chairman of RFI, highlighted the importance of the new appointments. "Lawrence, Eugene, Louis, and Farah bring deep experience in law, governance, digital policy, and capital market development – the disciplines upon which responsible digital finance depends," he stated. He also congratulated Patrick Loh on becoming a Co-Founder, acknowledging his pivotal role in building the institute.

The new fellows bring a diverse range of expertise. Professor Lawrence Loh directs the Centre for Governance and Sustainability at NUS Business School. Associate Professor Eugene K. B. Tan is an expert in law and the ethics of artificial intelligence. Professor Louis Chen specializes in digital governance and sustainable digital economy development. Ms Farah Jaafar offers nearly 30 years of experience in capital markets, fintech, and digital assets.

With these additions, the Responsible Fintech Institute aims to bolster its capacity to guide the responsible evolution of the digital finance landscape.
