Rexel to Acquire Specialty Wire and Cable Distributor GCG
Rexel, a global distributor in energy management, announced its agreement to acquire GCG, a specialty wire and cable distribution platform. The transaction is expected to close by year-end.
Rexel, a distributor of products and services in energy management, has announced its intention to acquire GCG, a specialty wire and cable distribution platform. The acquisition, which is subject to customary closing conditions, is expected to be finalized by the end of 2026.
GCG operates in segments focused on custom engineered solutions and connectivity and power solutions, providing value-added wire, cable, and connectivity products for markets including data centers, power infrastructure, defense, and telecommunications. Since 2019, GCG has grown its revenue to over $1.1 billion through organic expansion and strategic acquisitions.
The combination is anticipated to enhance Rexel's position in high-growth, mission-critical sectors such as data centers and power infrastructure. GCG's engineering-led distribution model and proprietary product offerings will be integrated into Rexel's existing network.
GCG was previously owned by Audax Private Equity, which had supported the company's growth strategy, including multiple add-on acquisitions. Financial advisors for the transaction included Solomon Partners and J.P. Morgan for GCG and Audax, and Guggenheim Securities and Rothschild & Company for Rexel.
