Reykjavik will be filled with family events on Thursday, April 25, as the city celebrates the first day of summer and opens its annual Children's Culture Festival.

A variety of free events are scheduled throughout the city, including the BIG BANG music festival at the Harpa concert hall. The festival features concerts, installations, and music-related workshops for children. This year's festival song, "Spyrja eftir þér," will be performed by Stuðpinnarnir and siblings Keli, Katla, and Valgeir.

Other activities include a summer celebration by the Scout Group Ægisbúar in Vesturbær, offering bouncy castles and family entertainment. The international performing arts festival UNGI will open at City Hall with a dance performance by the British group Daryl&Mimbre.

Additionally, several art and architecture exhibitions are on display: The Nordic House in Reykjavik presents "Architecture, Breiðholt, and Our City," where children have designed future homes. The National Museum will feature an exhibition where schoolchildren have interpreted national treasures. The LGBT+ Youth Center's art exhibition "What's Missing" showcases young artists' work at Kjarvalsstaðir Museum.

The festival program also includes plays for children at the Reykjavik City Theatre and a new exhibition at the Árbær Open Air Museum exploring the history of children's schooling. All events at the Children's Culture Festival are free and open to everyone.
