Reykjavíkurborg has extended the deadline for a special sports and leisure activities grant until April 15. The grant, worth 45,000 ISK per child, is intended for lower-income families and is part of the city's response to the COVID-19 pandemic.

The purpose of the grant is to ensure children have equal access to sports, music education, and other leisure activities. It is available for children born between 2005 and 2014 who live in households with an average monthly income below 740,000 ISK during March–July 2020.

Initially set to close on March 1, the deadline has now been pushed back. Applicants may be eligible for refunds on activities already paid for since autumn 2020. Eligibility can be checked and applications submitted via Ísland.is.
