The City Executive Council of Reykjavík has approved funding for immediate facility upgrades at sports clubs Ármann and Fjölnir. Work will focus on maintenance and accessibility as long-term planning continues.

Reykjavík has authorized a series of infrastructure improvements for the sports clubs Ármann and Fjölnir, following reports from city-appointed working groups. The initiatives aim to address operational challenges that have hindered the development of both organizations.

For the wrestling and sports club Ármann, located in Laugardalur, the city will invest in facility accessibility, storage expansion, and signage. The plan also includes adjustments to training schedules and new mechanisms for generating advertising revenue. The annual cost for these improvements is estimated at 36.5 million ISK.

In Grafarvogur, youth club Fjölnir faces critical issues, including poor field conditions and fragmented operations across two locations. City officials have approved an annual budget of 17 to 21 million ISK to cover urgent repairs at the Dalhús fields, improved access to the Egilshöll indoor arena, and the installation of a strength training facility.

City authorities have extended the mandates of the working groups to evaluate long-term solutions, which for Fjölnir includes the possibility of consolidating its facilities at a single site to ensure the viability of its soccer division.
