Rheinmetall and Indra Expand Strategic Partnership in Defence
German firm Rheinmetall and Spain's Indra Group have signed a memorandum of understanding to deepen their strategic partnership, particularly in military vehicle system production. The agreement paves the way for a joint venture to bid on a Spanish Army contract for up to 3,000 military trucks.

German defence manufacturer Rheinmetall AG and Spanish technology group Indra have signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) to significantly deepen their strategic cooperation. This agreement expands their existing partnership with a focus on the production of military vehicle systems for armed forces in Europe and Latin America.
A key objective of the expanded collaboration is the establishment of a joint venture later this year. This entity is intended to bid on a major contract from the Spanish Army for the procurement of up to 3,000 military trucks.
The cooperation will also encompass the modernization of tracked armoured vehicles, development of tactical support vehicles, and joint participation in solutions for tracked infantry fighting vehicles (IFVs). Furthermore, the companies will form consortia to pursue opportunities in logistic truck procurements.
Beyond combat and logistics vehicles, the partnership extends to other areas, including space-based communication solutions. The companies aim to develop future-oriented solutions for armed forces while simultaneously strengthening the European defence industrial base. The collaboration leverages their complementary expertise in system integration, sensor technology, digitalization, and platform and effector systems.
