Rheinmetall and Praetorian Aeronautics to Supply AERIE Drone Defense System

Rheinmetall Defence Australia has entered into a partnership with Australian company Praetorian Aeronautics to supply the AERIE (Autonomous-Engagement-Rapid-Interceptor-Effector) system. This is a containerized solution designed for countering unmanned aerial systems (C-UAS).

The prototype, developed over twelve months, is based on Australian technology and collaboration, highlighting the partners' commitment to rapid development. The system is designed for quick deployment and reloading, fitting within a standard 20-foot ISO container and capable of carrying more than 20 interceptors.

AERIE integrates Praetorian Aeronautics' "Arrow Interceptor" and "Hadrian Command and Control (C2)" system, both designed and developed in Australia. The "Arrow Interceptor" is an autonomous and cost-effective interceptor, while "Hadrian C2" is an AI-driven command system.

Nathan Poyner, Managing Director of Rheinmetall Defence Australia, emphasized the company's support for Australia's sovereign capabilities. "Our collaboration with Praetorian Aeronautics combines Australian ingenuity with global expertise in air defense technology and manufacturing," Poyner stated.

Brett Hill, CEO of Praetorian Aeronautics, noted that the partnership merges their AI-based C2 system and "Arrow Interceptor" with Rheinmetall's technical systems and production capabilities. The AERIE system is scheduled to enter full operator demonstrations in the fourth quarter of 2026.
