Rheinmetall Begins 155mm Ammunition Shipments to Ukraine from New Plant
Rheinmetall has commenced delivering 155mm artillery ammunition to Ukraine from its new Werk Niedersachsen plant for the first time. The shipment includes RH1412 projectiles and propellant charges, with the remainder expected by the end of 2026.

Defense contractor Rheinmetall has started delivering 155mm artillery ammunition to Ukraine from its newly established Werk Niedersachsen plant in Unterlüß. The initial delivery consists of a low five-figure quantity of RH1412 projectiles and associated propellant charges sourced from other Rheinmetall facilities.
More than half of the order has already been dispatched, with the remaining projectiles and propellant charges scheduled for delivery by the close of 2026. The RH1412 projectile is designed for compatibility with various 155mm weapon systems, offering extended range and significant effectiveness. This marks a new stage in Rheinmetall's support for Ukraine's armed forces.
The company is actively expanding its production capacity for large-caliber ammunition, with a target of producing approximately 1.5 million 155mm artillery projectiles annually by 2030. These efforts aim to meet increasing demand and bolster European ammunition manufacturing capabilities.
Rheinmetall stated the delivery underscores its expertise in artillery systems and its position as a key supplier of large-caliber ammunition. The Werk Niedersachsen plant's role within Rheinmetall's production network is becoming increasingly significant.
