Rheinmetall Delivers Artillery Ammunition From Unterlüß to Ukraine
Rheinmetall has begun delivering 155 mm artillery ammunition to Ukraine from its Unterlüß plant for the first time. Previous deliveries originated from other sites within the company's production network.
German defense contractor Rheinmetall has commenced deliveries of 155 mm artillery ammunition to Ukraine from its Lower Saxony plant in Unterlüß. This marks the first time ammunition has been shipped to Ukraine from this specific facility, with prior shipments originating from other locations within Rheinmetall's global production network.
The current order consists of a low five-figure quantity of projectiles and propellant charges. More than half of this order has already been delivered, with the remainder scheduled for completion by the end of 2026. The press release does not specify the exact order size but confirms ongoing supply over the next two years.
This delivery includes Rheinmetall's latest RH1412 projectiles, designed for various 155 mm artillery systems, offering long range and high effectiveness. The company has been significantly increasing its production capacity since 2022 to meet growing demand, aiming to produce approximately 1.5 million 155 mm artillery projectiles annually by 2030.
