Rheinmetall displays Skyranger air defence system at ILA exhibition
Rheinmetall is showcasing its Skyranger 30 mobile air defence system at the ILA Berlin 2026 aerospace exhibition. The system has seen increased demand in Europe due to heightened defence needs following the war in Ukraine.

German technology group Rheinmetall is presenting its Skyranger 30 mobile air defence system at the International Aerospace Exhibition (ILA Berlin 2026). The company aims to showcase its role as a systems partner for national and international armed forces.
The system's importance has grown in Europe, particularly in light of the war in Ukraine. At the exhibition, Rheinmetall displays a Skyranger 30 turret mounted on a Boxer 8x8 armoured wheeled vehicle, equipped with MBDA's DefendAir missiles. This configuration is intended to counter current and future threats.
The Skyranger 30 is described as combining a high-precision gun and missile defence, offering mobility, protection, flexibility, and precision for challenging threat scenarios. The turret's modular design allows integration onto various platforms, including tracked vehicles like the Lynx KF41 and truck chassis. Integrated sensors provide 360-degree reconnaissance and target tracking.
Several European nations, including Germany, Austria, the Netherlands, and Romania, have ordered Skyranger systems as part of their defence programs. Ukraine is also slated to receive the system to bolster its air defences. Rheinmetall is scaling up its production capacity to meet global demand, aiming to increase annual turret output from 70-100 units to up to 400 units per year.
