Rheinmetall receives 100 million euro order for D-LBO project
Rheinmetall has received an additional order worth 100 million euros for the German armed forces' D-LBO project. The order covers hardware and services for vehicle digitalization.
Defense contractor Rheinmetall has secured an additional order valued at 100 million euros from the German armed forces for the "Digitalization of Land-Based Operations" (D-LBO) initiative. This latest call-off from an existing framework agreement will supply hardware components and industrial services for the continued serial integration of digital command and communication systems into Bundeswehr vehicles.
The order includes the delivery of 5,000 adapter plate sets and 11,000 ruggedized PIN pads. These components are crucial for integrating IT and radio equipment across various military vehicle platforms. The hardware component is part of a broader effort to modernize the German Army's land forces.
To support the serial retrofitting process, Rheinmetall Electronics and its partner blackned GmbH will provide ten additional serial integration teams. These teams are scheduled to work from the fourth quarter of 2027 through the fourth quarter of 2028, boosting the available installation capacity. This expansion is designed to ensure the project's timeline is met.
The D-LBO program aims to equip the Army with a comprehensive, secure, and interoperable digital command and information infrastructure. This multi-billion euro initiative is considered one of the Bundeswehr's most significant modernization projects, enhancing command capabilities and NATO interoperability.
