Rheinmetall receives further German military order for communication equipment

German defense technology company Rheinmetall has secured a new order from the German armed forces for its communication sets with hearing protection functionality. Placed in December 2025, the order is for 50,000 units and is valued at over 130 million euros net.

This represents the third delivery call-off from a framework agreement initially established in April 2024. The overarching agreement allows for the supply of up to 191,000 such sets over a seven-year period, with a potential total value of approximately 400 million euros net. The first two delivery lots, financed by special funds, included additional items like connection cables and were valued at around 150 million euros. These initial deliveries are scheduled for completion by the end of 2025.

The communication set is a key component of a soldier's personal equipment. It integrates active hearing protection that dampens harmful impulse noise while amplifying quieter sounds. The system includes a microphone for radio communication, connected via various push-to-talk buttons and cabling options compatible with different radio devices. Rheinmetall partners with 3M Peltor for the headset component and CEOTRONICS AG for the PTT modules.

This latest order reinforces Rheinmetall's position in soldier modernization. The company also serves as the general contractor for the German armed forces' "Infanterist der Zukunft – Erweitertes System" soldier system. Internationally, Rheinmetall markets various configurations of its Gladius soldier system.
