Rheinmetall Supplies Norway with Mission Master XT
Rheinmetall has delivered its first Mission Master XT autonomous ground vehicle to Norway. The extreme-terrain vehicle demonstrated its capabilities in sub-zero conditions during trials in Finland.

German defense contractor Rheinmetall has supplied Norway with its first Mission Master XT, an unmanned ground vehicle (UGV) designed for extreme terrain and sub-zero conditions. The Norwegian Defence Research Establishment awarded Rheinmetall the contract following a competitive bid.
The Mission Master XT successfully completed mobility and operational trials in Finland, navigating challenging arctic environments including icy rivers and slippery slopes in temperatures as low as -30°C. These trials confirmed the vehicle's suitability for the demanding conditions faced by Nordic countries.
Developed by Rheinmetall Canada in 2021, the Mission Master XT is capable of operating on ice, snow, sand, and mountainous terrain. It features amphibious capabilities, allowing it to float and swim while carrying its full payload of 1,000 kg. The diesel-powered vehicle has a range of 750 km and includes an advanced tire inflation system and an AI-powered PATH navigation system for autonomous operation.
Rheinmetall Canada also participated in the Norwegian Army Technology Days in August, presenting the vehicle and discussing strategies for increasing the adoption and trust in UGVs.
