Defense contractor Rheinmetall will construct a new logistics and technology center at Kassel Airport in Calden, Germany, with financial support from the state of Hesse. The total investment is expected to reach a three-digit million euro amount.

The new facility, covering over 30,000 square meters, is slated for operation by the end of 2027. Rheinmetall states this development is a key part of its growth strategy in tactical military vehicles, aiming to enhance operational efficiency and supply chain management.

Benefits for customers are expected to include reduced lead times, optimized supply chains, and improved delivery quality, addressing increased demand for the company's products. Rheinmetall also plans to establish a drone testing center at the new site, leveraging the airport's infrastructure.

The Hessian state government and Rheinmetall signed a memorandum of understanding to jointly develop the North Hesse region as an innovation and defense hub. State Minister-President Boris Rhein highlighted the investment as a significant signal for the region's economy and future prospects.
