Rheinmetall to supply 69 Schakal infantry vehicles to Germany and Netherlands
The European defense organization OCCAR has ordered 69 additional Schakal wheeled infantry fighting vehicles for the German and Dutch armed forces.

Rheinmetall has secured a contract to deliver 69 additional Schakal infantry fighting vehicles through Artec GmbH, a joint venture between Rheinmetall and KNDS Deutschland. The order includes 35 vehicles for the German Bundeswehr and 34 for the Royal Dutch Land Forces. With a value in the mid-triple-digit million-euro range, the delivery schedule is set between May 2032 and November 2033.
The Schakal vehicle integrates the chassis of the Boxer wheeled armored vehicle with the turret system of the tracked Puma infantry fighting vehicle. This configuration is designed to provide high mobility, modularity, and protection. The vehicle is equipped with Rheinmetall’s MK 30-2/ABM autocannon and the MELLS anti-tank guided missile system, aiming to offer substantial firepower for medium-sized combat units.
This order follows the main contract awarded in October 2025, which initially covered 222 vehicles. Including these latest options, the total order volume for the Schakal program has reached 291 units. The collaboration remains a central component of the German-Dutch defense cooperation, intended to bolster regional industrial capacity and standardize logistics across participating land forces.
