Rheinmetall to supply additional communication headsets to German Armed Forces for over €130 million
Rheinmetall has received a new order from the German Armed Forces for an additional batch of communication headsets with a hearing protection function. The order value exceeds €130 million.

The German Armed Forces has placed a new order with Rheinmetall for an additional delivery of communication headsets equipped with a hearing protection function. The order, placed in December 2025, represents a third call-up from a framework contract initially established in April 2024. The total order encompasses 50,000 sets of these communication headsets along with supplementary items, valued at over €130 million net.
The original framework contract allows for the delivery of up to 191,000 communication sets over a seven-year period, with a potential total value of approximately €400 million net. Initial orders, subject to conditions set by the German Parliament's Budget Committee, covered a total of 60,000 sets for delivery in 2024 and 2025. These first two lots, worth approximately €150 million net, included additional components such as connection cables and are scheduled for full delivery by the end of 2025.
The communication headset with hearing protection function is a critical component of modern soldier equipment. It features active earmuffs that mitigate harmful impulse noise while amplifying ambient sounds, allowing clear voice communication when connected to various radio devices. Rheinmetall is producing these systems in cooperation with subcontractors 3M Peltor and CEOTRONICS AG. The headsets are designed for compatibility with Rheinmetall's new combat helmets and other helmet types used by the German Armed Forces.
This latest order reinforces Rheinmetall's role as a supplier of soldier systems. The company is also the prime contractor for the German Armed Forces' "Future Soldier System – Advanced System" and offers its Gladius soldier system configurations to international markets.
