Rheinmetall to Supply Hybrid Vehicle Components to Chinese Manufacturer
Rheinmetall has secured an order worth tens of millions of euros for hybrid vehicle components from a leading Chinese manufacturer. Deliveries include electronic throttle bodies and delta pressure valves.
German technology group Rheinmetall has secured a significant order from a leading Chinese manufacturer of new energy vehicles (NEVs). The order, valued in the upper double-digit million euro range, covers the supply of electronic throttle bodies and delta pressure valves.
The components are optimized for hybrid and range extender electric vehicle engines, playing a crucial role in reducing emissions and improving fuel efficiency. The contract has a term of five years.
Production is slated to begin in early 2026 at Rheinmetall's Pierburg plant in Kunshan, China, with an expected end date in 2030. The company emphasized a "local for local" approach, investing in production line upgrades to meet specific market demands.
Electronic throttle bodies have been a core product for Rheinmetall for over a decade, aiding in optimizing fuel combustion efficiency. This order reinforces Rheinmetall's strategic goal of expanding its position in emission reduction technologies for the growing NEV market, particularly in China.
